A question type where respondents assign an order of priority to a set of choices, with drag & drop support.
RANK (Ranking) is a question type where respondents assign an order to a list of choices. It is ideal when you need to understand the relative priority or strength of preference.
When to use it
- Capture the order of importance of multiple criteria
- Rank brand preferences
- Get a relative importance assessment of product features
Display format
kicue's ranking question uses a two-column layout.
- Left: unranked choices
- Right: ranked list (1st, 2nd, 3rd, ...)
- Reorder by drag & drop or "move up / move down" buttons
Touch interaction is supported on mobile.
Configuration
- Number to rank — rank all choices, or only the top N
- Randomize choices — remove order effects in the initial list
- Required / optional
Design tips
- 5–7 items is ideal; too many causes response fatigue
- "Top 3 only" dramatically reduces the burden vs. ranking all items
- Randomize the initial order to neutralize order effects
